🎨 Open Call-for-Artists!

Nucarta is proud to announce an open call-for-artists for Chromatic Roots: A Visual Journey Through Caribbean Identity, Culture, and Color, a vibrant pop-up art exhibit in partnership with the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet, and the Office of Arts and Culture. This exhibit will take place on June 10th, 2025 in the Boston City Hall Courtyard during the city’s official Caribbean Heritage Month Celebration — a day uplifted by music, food, community, and cultural pride.

As part of the day’s events — including a flag raising with Mayor Wu, a courtyard lunch with Caribbean Consul Generals, and a lively domino tournament — Chromatic Roots will spotlight Caribbean creativity, inviting the public into a visual space of reflection, color, and connection.

About the Exhibit

Chromatic Roots: A Visual Journey Through Caribbean Identity, Culture, and Color invites artists inspired by Caribbean culture and heritage to explore how identity and culture are expressed through color — and how these visual languages hold ancestral stories, diasporic memory, and collective joy.

From vibrant fruit tones and textile patterns to the shades of resistance, ritual, and rootedness, color becomes a bridge between past and present — a vivid expression of who we are and where we come from.
